Hmm, got off topic there for a second. Anyways, today at a Whole Foods market, we decided to get something to eat. We walked around their many selections of foods, and one thing we've noticed is that there were more flies in the store than there were employees. The flies were landing and crawling on things in the salad bar; they were on the cheeses, sushi, bbqed meat, deli meat, fruits. Pretty much anything meant to be eaten as is, there were at least 3 or 4 of the little buggers. The more amazing things is, no one seems to mind it too much.
... Hello? Did Whole Foods announce that these flys were bred to carry special spices and sauces on their feet, and there is nothing to worry about?! Am I the only person that missed the announcement? Or have we just all gone the way of the "Green" earth loving hippies that we embrace all mother nature's creatures?
Flies spit out digestive juices on foods, so they can slurpe it back in. When you are eating something that a fly has landed on for more than a few seconds, chances are you are eating their spit. No matter how little that amount is, the thought of it makes me cringe.
I haven't even seen this many flies at Ralph's or Albertson's. At the rate Whole Foods charge, they should hire employees just to swat flies, because the current ones they have certainly don't seem to give a crap.
